Men's Fellowship

This week our Men’s Fellowship (8 a.m. Thursday mornings in room 17) watched a video by Chip Ingram on “Living on the Edge.”  It was great.  I think we’re going to watch the whole series following our study on the “Purpose Driven Life” that begins in October.

In the study guide for the video, Ingram challenges us to read Romans chapter 12 every day for a week.  “Overcome evil with good” is the last line of Romans 12, something that we acknowledged would be tough, but represents Christ’s call to us both personally and as a church.

Take the Romans chapter 12 challenge with us and let us know if it affects the way you think or live this week.  Verse 12 says, in part “Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.”  I’m not sure how I’ll do on that one, but I think God has a plan for me and I know he has one for you.

Membership Seminar

Have you ever wondered where the word Presbyterian came from? Would you like to know what the core beliefs of this church are? Are you interested in membership in the church? Would you just like to answer the question of why I should become a member anyway? If you’ve asked these or other questions, then come to our Membership Seminar on Sunday, October 14th in room 17 at 9:45 am.

We will address all these questions and more. We’ll talk about the structure of church government, the ministries that you can become involved with, and the core beliefs of our church. We’ll also have time for your questions and take a tour of our campus. You should have all you need to make an informed decision about membership.

For those who wish to become members of First Presbyterian Church, we will have a luncheon with the Elders on Session the following Sunday. Those who wish to join by letter of transfer are also welcome to come to the luncheon where an official meeting of session will be convened for the specific purpose of bringing in new members. For more information contact Pastor Bill.
